Building Skills for Canada's Low-Carbon Future

SAIT is proud to be a partner in the national TACTILE initiative (Talent Acceleration and Career Training in Low-carbon
Energy), led by Carbon Management Canada (CMC). This initiative supports Canada’s transition to net-zero by preparing
a skilled workforce for careers in carbon management and clean energy.

This portal is a self-serve platform to enroll in the Certificate of Completion: Foundations in Clean Energy and Carbon Capture.

Program Details:

Certificate of Completion: Foundations in Clean Energy and Carbon Capture

This program is best suited for individuals with a high school education, newcomers to Canada, and those entering the
workforce for the first time.

Program Start: June 1st, 2026

Recommended Background:

  • High School Graduates

Eligibility:

  • Minimum age of 15 - grade 10 level of education required
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

Delivery Options:

  • Online asynchronous | 31 hours total | 8 weeks
  • In-person | 31 hours total | 4 days

Energy Fundamentals for a Low-Carbon Economy

The energy world is changing fast, and it affects us all. New terms, technologies, and ideas pop up daily, from carbon pricing and electrification to critical minerals and clean energy. This course is designed to help you make sense of it all. You don’t need a technical background—we’ll give you the core knowledge to understand how energy systems work, why cleaner energy matters, and how global trends are shaping our future.

Introduction to Carbon Capture and Storage

Explore the full CCS technology chain and its role in Canada’s sustainable energy future. This course covers CO₂ capture applications, benefits, challenges, and socio-economic impacts. Ideal for anyone curious about CCS and its potential in the energy transition.

 

Certificate of Achievement: Applied Carbon Capture and Management

This program best applies to students or workers in early-career stages looking to upgrade skills with a focus on low-carbon energy sectors. Learners with some post-secondary education are the best fit in this program.

This program is best suited for individuals with a high school education, newcomers to Canada, and those entering the
workforce for the first time.

Program Start: August 4th, 2026

Recommended Background:

  • Post-secondary diploma, certificate or apprenticeship
  • Some work experience

Eligibility:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

Delivery Options:

  • Online asynchronous | 172 hours
  • 16 week and 32 week options

Introduction to Carbon Capture and Storage

Measurement, Monitoring and Verification (MMV)

Gain practical skills in carbon sequestration monitoring and verification. This course covers CO₂ properties, site planning, modeling, data analytics, and regulatory compliance

Design of Carbon Transportation Infrastructure

Design of Carbon Transportation Infrastructure course will build students’ understanding of carbon pipeline transportation conceptualization and the considerations for techno-economic objectives and constraints, process, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation design, and life cycle assessment.

Data Analytics and Machine Learning for Carbon Management

Understand carbon management from both economic and policy perspectives. This course introduces carbon footprinting, emissions mitigation, and the regulatory frameworks shaping carbon governance at all levels.

Applied Carbon Management Economics & Policy

Develop skills in data analysis and visualization for carbon management decision-making, utilizing tools and techniques to interpret carbon data and trends.

  2. Select the bundle and then click "Add to Cart"
  3. Click "Checkout" when ready 
  4. Follow instructions to complete the registration process

NEW SAIT ACCOUNTS: when you register, there is a 48-hour waiting period before you can access your online course through Brightspace/D2L.

How to access your online course (once it is open):

  1. Login to Brightspace/D2L - https://learn.sait.ca 
  2. Username is your SAIT email address in format firstname.lastname@edu.sait.ca 
  3. Brightspace password is the same password used to access mySAIT and SAIT email
  4. Once logged in, navigate to the "My Courses" section and click on title of your course

SAIT online courses are graded. If you do not complete the required course work by the course end date, you will be assigned an "F" grade.
