Course Description

This course describes the fundamental switching and routing principles and the operations of routers and switches. Learn how to configure basic routing protocols and switched network functionality in a small-to-medium sized network.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to implement and troubleshoot:

  • virtual LANs (VLAN),
  • VTP,
  • inter-VLAN routing,
  • static routes,
  • RIP,
  • single-area OSPF,
  • Access List (ACL),
  • DHCP,
  • and Network Address Translation (NAT) in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.

This course is offered in a hybrid learning environment, and students will be expected to do a considerable amount of work outside of the class using online resources. A significant portion of class time will be devoted to lab work with additional lab time available on weekends.
