Course Description

This first level electrical design course helps you understand the significance and requirements of design in the construction of buildings and facilities. You will learn theoretical and practical electrical design concepts and drafting techniques for commercial facilities, lighting and motor control applications.

Electrical Design training topics also include:

  • how to interpret and draw electrical symbols
  • illumination design
  • choosing and protecting conductors
  • distribution systems

You will also learn how to complete a major commercial electrical design project incorporating analysis, calculation and design competencies. Canadian Electrical Code requirements will be discussed in conjunction with the design project, and drawings will be completed using AutoCAD Release 2000 and an Auto Electric software package.

Prerequisites

CADD-111 or ELEC-143 are the mandatory requirements for this course, or equivalent industry experience may be considered. You are required to show proof of completion by emailing conedadvising@sait.ca.
