Course Description

This second level course applies advanced concepts of electrical design and drafting to industrial installations, including distribution and branch circuits. Electrical code requirements discussed in conjunction with design project, and drawings are completed using AutoCAD Release 2000 and an Auto Electric software package.

Additional electrical design topics covered include:

  • Hazardous location classification
  • Hazardous location installation
  • Canadian Electrical Code and industrial design calculations
  • Artificial and high resistance grounding
  • Industrial electrical design project

Prerequisites

 

DSGN-001 is the mandatory requirement for this course. You are required to show proof of completion by emailing conedadvising@sait.ca.

Prerequisites: 
DSGN 001 is a mandatory requirement for this course.  

If you have completed this requirement at a school other than SAIT, email your proof of completion documents to conedadvising@sait.ca at least one week prior to the course start. 

Schedule:
This course will be delivered virtually using Zoom & Brightspace/D2L. Zoom sessions will be held on Saturdays between Saturday, January, 22 and March 12 from 9am to 4pm. The final class ends at 1:00 pm.
Please note: There is no class on Saturday, February 19 (Family Day Long Weekend).

Required Tech:
Ensure your computer meets system requirements for remote access to Auto CAD software. Software access information will be provided in Brightspace.
