Course Description

This first level ultrasonics course is a part of the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspection Foundations program. Learn to analyze the properties of sound and sound transference through various mediums, while covering related topics including wave propagation, generation of ultrasonic waves, test equipment and test methods. Instruction is also provided in calibration, performance tests, weld inspection, specification and interpretation of ultrasonic test results.

Prerequisites

One of CODE 118, CODE 270 or EXAM 109 is the mandatory requirement for this course. You are required to show proof of completion by emailing conedadvising@sait.ca. If you've taken Materials & Processes at another institution, please contact conedadvising@sait.ca.

Prerequisites:

The minimum age for enrollment is 18 years.

At least three months field experience in ultrasonic inspection is recommended.  

One of CODE 118, CODE 207, or EXAM 109 is the mandatory prerequisite for this course. If you have completed this requirement at a school other than SAIT, email your proof of completion documents to conedadvising@sait.ca at least one week prior to the course start.

Students applying for training must possess adequate mathematical proficiency required for NDT. A passing grade in any Grade 10 Math or equivalent is required. If students cannot produce credentials to demonstrate math proficiency, they must write the Math 10-C exam at SAIT. To book this test, please contact the SAIT Testing Centre at testing@sait.ca.

Note: Students who are already certified in another non-destructive testing method are exempt from this prerequisite.
