Course Description

This combined first and second level course for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) introduces Magnetic Particle (MPI) methods which allow technicians to locate defects in ferro-magnetic materials. You will learn to work with various equipment and accessories while following inspection procedures and standards outlined by industry and regulatory groups.

Prerequisites

Note: The minimum age requirement for this course is 18 years.

Prerequisites:  
One of CODE 118, CODE 270 or EXAM 109 is the mandatory requirement for this course. If you have completed this requirement at a school other than SAIT, email your proof of completion documents to conedadvising@sait.ca at least one week prior to the course start.

Students applying for training must possess adequate mathematical proficiency required for NDT. A passing grade in any Grade 10 Math or equivalent is required. If students cannot produce credentials to demonstrate math proficiency, they must write the Math 10-C exam at SAIT. To book this test, please contact the SAIT Testing Centre at testing@sait.ca.

Note: Students who are already certified in another non-destructive testing method are exempt from this prerequisite.

Course Materials:   
All course materials are included in tuition fees.
Students must supply the following: UV Protected Clear Lens Safety Glasses, calculator, geometry set, and steel toe safety boots. Disposable rubber gloves will be supplied by SAIT.
