PWEN 007 - Fifth Class Power Engineering Lab
Course Description
This lab is for students who have completed a Fifth Class Power Engineering theory course but do not have six months of work experience necessary to write the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) Fifth Class exam. Fifth Class power engineers are employed as operators in a power plant or heating plant such as hospitals, hotels, schools, office buildings or apartment buildings.
To write a Fifth Class Power Engineering Certificate of Competency exam, students must have successfully completed a theory course in boiler and heating plant operation and a Fifth Class Power Engineering Lab at a post-secondary school recognized by ABSA or have six months of work experience in a power plant or operating a heating plant boiler.

Notes
Students are required to take an online Safety Orientation course (SAFE 160) prior to starting the course & provide printed proof of completion on the first day of the lab.
Prerequisites
PWEN 003 or PWEN 206 is the mandatory requirement for this course. You are required to show proof of completion by emailing conedadvising@sait.ca.
Recommendations
It is recommended that students have a minimum of Grade 10 Math, Science and English.Applies Towards the Following Certificates
