This course is an overview of the legislative framework, authority, roles and responsibilities of federal and provincial governments in Canada about the regulation of petroleum resource exploration, extraction, processing and transportation.
You'll learn about the origin and application of Canadian common law and the evolution of oil and gas law. You'll understand the processes required for the approval of basic oil and gas activities in each Western Canadian Province, and learn about the oil and gas regulations for British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Learn how the impact of recent technological advancements on current legislation and the concept of play-based regulations works.
