Course Description

Safety is of extreme importance to the operation of railways and a critical component to achieving this is the maintenance of the track and right of way. This 4 hour track inspection course is intended for rail personnel responsible for basic inspection and reporting of monthly track inspections on operations that have only one track. If your operation has more than one track and switches you will need to take the full day course (RREG 109).

Track inspection Level 1 course content includes:

  • Describe the legislative requirements for inspection
  • Discuss inspection requirements
  • Explain inspection record requirements
  • Discuss planning inspections
  • Identify rail defects
  • Report conditions
  • Ballast, vegetation and ties
  • Track geometry
