Course Description

Are you interested in learning how to inspect, test and perform maintenance on portable fire extinguishers, as outlined in the Alberta Fire Code 2023?

In this course, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of portable fire extinguishers used in fire systems, including:
• Fire suppression basics
• Codes and standards
• Classification, selection, application and distribution
• Inspection
• Maintenance
• Recharging
• Re-qualification

As per Alberta Fire Code 2023, only qualified persons shall install, test or perform maintenance on portable extinguishers. Persons are considered qualified when they have acquired an approved certificate of training from a public post-secondary educational institution and own or are employed by a certified fire extinguisher shop.

Since this is an interactive & collaborative class, students must be visible (camera on) throughout the course in order for the instructor to see that you have completed the requirements of this course.
