Course Description

This course introduces high performance residential design and construction practices. We will examine principles and standards of high-performance homes, including related building science concepts and existing home construction codes. We will explore how high-performance homes differ from traditional code-minimum homes, the benefits of high-performance homes, and how to identify a high-performance home through verification methods.

There are no prerequisites for this course.


This course will be delivered virtually using Zoom & Brightspace/D2L and is very interactive. Zoom sessions will be held on Thursdays between January 13 and February 3, from 6 -7 pm.

We encourage you to use your webcam and microphone to contribute to a more collaborative learning experience.

One optional extension is available for purchase. This gives you additional time equal to half the original course duration during which you will have continued access to course materials.
