PROJ 025 - Agile Project Management
Course Description
Overview
Agile Project Management builds your know-how to manage projects with adaptability, effectiveness and a customer focus. Based on the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Agile Practice Guide and A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), this SAIT Micro-credential course is designed to increase and enhance your understanding of the agile approach.
In this course, you'll explore opportunities to apply agile best practices throughout a project’s life cycle and learn to effectively implement agile mindset and practices that require a paradigm shift, including customer-centric processes and agile tools and techniques.
Key agile concepts are introduced, including product envisioning, design thinking, personas, user story mapping, minimum viable product (MVP) and product backlog refinement. You’ll also develop an understanding of client needs and how to create and prioritize work, while exploring approaches to managing risk, characterizing key stakeholders and their success criteria, and applying best practices for leading agile teams.
Throughout the course, you’ll have access to engaging online content and assessments, along with expert guidance from industry-trained instructors to support this applied learning experience.
This course is ideal if you:
- seek to develop skills in creating and prioritizing work, managing risk and leading agile teams effectively
- want to enhance your understanding of the agile approach and best practices, including design thinking and user story mapping
- are curious about how to track project progress using agile tools like burnup and burndown charts.
There are no eligibility requirements for this course. Any prior or current education and work experience from any industry or sector will enhance your professional development journey.
Upon successful completion of this course, you’ll be able to:
- explain how the five Scrum values enable the three Scrum pillars and make agile teams more effective
- select the appropriate strategies to create an effective agile team and environment
- select the agile team role to be responsible for project activities
- apply design thinking techniques to create an empathy map and user persona
- develop a user story map and prioritized product backlog
- show release and sprint progress on a burnup and burndown chart.
