Course Description

Managing the performance of your employees does not mean controlling, but rather assisting those individuals in developing into the best employees they can be. The successful process managers use to do this includes planning, monitoring, evaluating and training. The main tools used are progressive and include performance reviews, goal setting and, when needed, the process of progressive discipline (including dismissal).

This performance management course focuses on how you, as the manager, can use the newest techniques in your pursuit to help your good employees be even better. We'll explore the impact of performance management theory on current performance management approaches. You'll create a 12-month performance management schedule, set employee objectives, monitor performance and provide feedback that will help employees either stay or get back on the road to success. We'll discuss the value of probationary periods, and you'll learn how to address performance problems.
