Course Description

Learn how to produce 2D drawings using AutoCAD software. In this course, you will be introduced to AutoCAD’s layout and user interface, commands, system variables, initial settings and basic techniques for creating, editing, organizing and printing drawings.

Key topics include:

  • Drawing theory
  • Constructing and editing 2D geometry
  • Drawing objects, correcting errors, object verification, measurement, and controlling graphic display
  • Using grids, text, layers, and object symbology

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand AutoCAD’s workspace and user interface
  • Execute basic commands in AutoCAD to open, view, navigate, edit, print and save a drawing
  • Use basic drawing, editing and viewing tools to create an object
  • Organize drawing objects on layers
  • Use reusable symbols (Blocks)
  • Prepare a layout for printing or plotting
  • Add and edit text, hatching and dimensions

Prerequisites

CADD 111 is the mandatory requirement for this course. You are required to show proof of completion by emailing conedadvising@sait.ca.

Prerequisites:
CADD 111 is the mandatory requirement for this course. If you have completed this requirement at a school other than SAIT, email your proof of completion documents to conedadvising@sait.ca at least one week prior to the course start.

Extensions:
One optional extension available for purchase.  This gives you additional time equal to half the original course duration during which you will have continued access to course materials.
