Love music and are fascinated by the technical aspects of sound? Are you interested in building or enhancing your audio and sound engineering knowledge and skills for a new or existing career? Look no further than our 150-hour Digital Audio certificate program. You'll gain comprehensive training in sound theory and work with digital audio hardware and software to learn the necessary competencies to succeed in a variety of in-demand audio production and engineering occupations.
Taught by experienced industry professionals, this immersive in-person, lab-based program will give you the hands-on skills to:
- properly set up a recording session, including microphones, equipment and recording software
- record, edit, mix and master different projects using a variety of digital signal processing techniques
- use both analog and digital mixing consoles in a live sound environment
- explore sound design and synthesis for the creation of soundtracks for games and videos.
Prepare to be punctual, attend and participate in all classes on campus for an optimal learning and job-ready experience. Note that for AUDI 012 Intro Live Sound Engineering and AUDI 013 Intermediate Live Sound Engineering, some lifting of speaker equipment (maximum 12 kilograms) is required.
This certificate is a great complement to our Event Technician program, preparing you for work as a technician in live-event settings or to enhance your technical skills as a content creator.

The average starting salary in Canada for an Audio Engineer is $55,000 per year. The average starting salary for other related occupations may vary depending on the Canadian city and employer.
You must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time you start the first course for this program. There are no other admission requirements (academic and/or work experience).
Program cost: The program consists of six mandatory courses, each costing $599 in tuition fees. As a participant, you’ll have access to a state-of-the-art recording studio, a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and Stereo Editing software. All supporting course materials and resources are accessible in the Brightspace (D2L) learning platform from a classroom computer. You’ll need to purchase a USB stick with a minimum capacity of 32GB and a pair of closed-back, plug-in headphones (1/8-inch /3.5mm jack) for use in all courses.

Program completion: This program can be completed in as little as 8-12 months (subject to course availability) and up to three years. A non-credit SAIT Certificate of Achievement and transcript will be electronically issued to you upon successful completion. Learn more about SAIT credentials.
You can take one or a few courses at a time. Note course prerequisites. If you’re pursuing the full certificate, complete AUDI-011 first. We recommend taking the remaining courses in the order listed. We also recommend registering as soon as possible (7–14 days in advance of the course start date). Payment is by Visa or Mastercard upon registration.
