Course Description

The concepts and techniques of sound design will be explored in this 24-hour course through a hands-on approach to creating audio projects. You’ll explore the history of synthesizers, common types of synthesis and creative uses of the technology. You’ll also learn modern approaches for sampling, looping and sequencing to create a sound design. You'll get the opportunity to implement audio processing and effects to enhance the production. These techniques will be integrated into the creation of soundtracks for film, video or gaming scenarios.

All supporting course materials are included and accessible in the Brightspace (D2L) learning platform from a classroom/lab computer. You’ll need to bring one USB stick (minimum 32GB) and one pair of closed-back, plug-in headphones (1/8-inch / 3.5mm jack) for use in class throughout the program.

Note: Registration for this course closes two days before the course start date.
