Course Description

With the increasing presence of electric and hybrid vehicles (EVs and HEVs) on our roads daily, the demand for certified automotive service technicians capable of safely diagnosing, servicing and repairing them is also rising. Are you ready to incorporate this specialized knowledge and skillset into your Automotive Service Technician (AST) toolkit?

Build on your previous understanding of conventional vehicle systems with this 36-hour course to safely and confidently diagnose and service the most common high-voltage automotive electric vehicles. Get six hours of self-paced online learning in preparation for 30 hours of intensive hands-on training with our expert industry-trained instructors at our automotive training facility on SAIT's Calgary campus.

Topics covered include electric vehicle and hybrid electric vehicle battery construction, fuel cells, electric motor controllers, inverters and auxiliary accessories.

This course was made possible with the Government of Canada’s investment (2022-2024) in Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery (C2R2), a coalition of post-secondary institutions including SAIT focused on developing demand-driven workforce training solutions for a clean economy.
