Course Description

This course introduces the principles of net zero, zero carbon practices and their necessary performance metrics. You'll explore the current regulatory bodies administering these classifications and prevailing methods to achieve these high-performance targets.

Earn a SAIT Micro-credential

Students who successfully complete this course with a final grade of B- (70%) or higher will earn a micro-credential and receive a Digital Badge to share on their resume, social media or LinkedIn profile.

 

 

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • relate net zero and zero carbon to high performance building
  • explain net zero and zero carbon building assemblies and detailing
  • explain typical and readily available mechanical systems in net zero and zero carbon homes
  • explain renewable electricity solutions and their systems.

Prerequisites

It is strongly recommended to take CNST 014 - Introduction to High Performance Homes as a prerequisite to this course.

Schedule:
Participants will complete 8 hours of online, independent study supplemented with 4 hours of live virtual learning sessions with the instructor and other students.

These virtual sessions will be delivered virtually using Zoom & Brightspace/D2L and are very interactive. Zoom sessions will be held on Thursdays between February  8th and February 29th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
