Course Description

This course introduces the principles of net zero and zero carbon practices, and their necessary performance metrics. We will explore the current regulatory bodies administering these classifications and prevailing methods to achieve these high-performance targets.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Relate net zero and zero carbon to high performance building.
  • Explain net zero and zero carbon building assemblies and detailing.
  • Explain typical and readily available mechanical systems in net zero and zero carbon homes.
  • Explain renewable electricity solutions and their systems.

Prerequisites:
CNST 014 is the mandatory requirement for this course.
If you have completed this requirement at a school other than SAIT, email your proof of completion documents to conedadvising@sait.ca at least one week prior to the course start.

Schedule:
Participants will complete eight hours of online, independent study supplemented with four hours of live virtual learning sessions with the instructor and other students.

This virtual sessions will be delivered virtually using Zoom & Brightspace/D2L and are very interactive.
Zoom sessions will be determined by the instructor once the course starts.

We encourage you to use your webcam and microphone to contribute to a more collaborative learning experience.
