Course Description

This course introduces the principles of net zero and zero carbon practices, and their necessary performance metrics. We will explore the current regulatory bodies administering these classifications and prevailing methods to achieve these high-performance targets.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Relate net zero and zero carbon to high performance building
  • Explain net zero and zero carbon building assemblies and detailing
  • Explain typical and readily available mechanical systems in net zero and zero carbon homes
  • Explain renewable electricity solutions and their systems

Prerequisites:
Strongly recommended course CNST 014.

Schedule:
Participants will complete 8 hours of online, independent study supplemented with 4 hours of live virtual learning sessions with the instructor and other students.

These virtual sessions will be delivered virtually using Zoom & Brightspace/D2L and are very interactive. Zoom sessions will be held on Thursdays between February  8th and February 29th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

We encourage you to use your webcam and microphone to contribute to a more collaborative learning experience.
