Discover the latest in consumer-available smart home technologies while building a basic understanding of the benefits, applications, components, installation and use considerations.

  • describe the evolution of consumer smart home technologies
  • relate smart technologies to high performance building
  • describe basic smart home system components
  • outline considerations for builders and trades to utilize smart home technologies
  • describe necessary homeowner considerations when utilizing smart home technologies

Schedule:

Participants will complete 6 hours of online, independent study supplemented with 2 hours of live virtual learning sessions with the instructor and other students. These virtual sessions are mandatory and will be delivered using Zoom & Brightspace/D2L and are very interactive. Zoom sessions will be held on Thursdays between March 4th and March 17th , from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. We encourage you to use your webcam and microphone to contribute to a more collaborative learning experience.
