Course Description

Projects can fail for a variety of reasons, often stemming from issues in planning, execution or external factors. Make planning one of your best tools.

This 21-hour project planning course, based on the Project Management Institute’s (PMI’s) A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), focuses on the activities and functions involved in developing a comprehensive plan to create the project deliverables. You'll gain a solid foundation for project planning and execution by learning how to develop a project scope definition. You’ll also learn how to create key documents to help structure your projects, such as schedules, budgets, risk registers and resource, quality and procurement plans. In addition, you’ll investigate the human dimension of project planning, how to design a project organization tailored to the needs of your project and how to develop key metrics to measure and communicate project performance.

Register for our online asynchronous format if you need a more flexible, independent approach to learning. Register for our in-person, classroom-based or virtual options if you prefer learning in a social setting. Regardless of format, you'll get access to engaging online content and assessments and tap into the expert guidance of our industry-trained instructor who will ensure you get the most from this applied learning experience. This course is part of the Project Management Certificate of Completion.

Note: Registration for this course closes two days before the course start date.

This course is ideal if you:

  • are responsible for managing projects and want to enhance your skills to improve the efficiency and effectiveness in managing projects
