Course Description

This introductory video production course will provide a strong understanding of the terminology and techniques for video production. You'll develop basic video and audio skills using readily available equipment and software. You'll also learn to create professional quality videos by using the same techniques used in high-end productions.

Through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on practical exercises, you will develop the expertise to excel in the certificate and the confidence to pursue career opportunities in various industries.

All course materials are included and accessible in the Brightspace (D2L) learning platform from a classroom/lab computer. You’ll need to bring your own cellphone, capable of shooting HD video1920x1080 @ 29.97(30) fps with audio.

Note: Registration for this course closes two days prior to course start date.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

•    plan and produce a short multi-camera program
•    understand and apply camera settings and terminology using a smartphone
•    record quality audio using an external microphone with video
•    understand how to use basic lighting, stands and filters in production
•    perform simple video editing using multiple video files and audio tracks
•    use multiple delivery formats and create a finished master file
•    set up and record a basic live stream.

Prerequisites

AUDI-017 Introduction to Event Production and Content Creation is a mandatory prerequisite for this course.
