NGAS 001 - Introduction to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)
Course Description
Discover the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in this non-technical introduction. Learn about the properties of LNG, its worldwide production and the Canadian LNG industry. An experienced instructor will provide email support as you work through this 9-hour online asynchronous course. This course is a part of our LNG micro-credential series and provides a micro-credential to those looking to learn more about LNG operations. It is a beneficial course for individuals who are preparing to enter the LNG industry. Additionally, it serves as a valuable complement to our Gas Process Operations certificate. This course is made possible with funding from the Government of Alberta.
Note: Registration for this course closes two days before the course start date.
Upon successful completion of this course, you’ll be able to:
- describe the production of liquefied natural gas
- discuss the LNG industry
This online course is structured and guided. All coursework including the final exam must be completed as per the course schedule and no later than the course end date.
Earn a SAIT micro-credential
This course qualifies for the SAITMicro badge. Students who successfully complete this course with a final grade of B- (70%) or higher will earn a micro-credential and receive a shareable digital badge. Learn more.

You must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time you start this course. There are no other admission requirements (academic and/or work experience).
There are no prerequisites for this course.
All course materials are included in the cost of tuition and accessible in the Brightspace (D2L) learning platform on the course start date. The final exam is proctored online using Respondus LockDown Browser.
