Course Description

In this 24-hour course, you'll explore advanced video production concepts and techniques through a hands-on approach to creating video projects. Building on the techniques and terminology learned in VDEO-005 Video Production 1: Fundamentals, you’ll explore the operation of professional cameras in both single and multi-cam productions and bring together the elements of lighting, audio, video and production management into a unified production. 

All supporting course materials are included and accessible in the Brightspace (D2L) learning platform. You’ll need to bring your own cellphone or video camera capable of shooting HD video 1920x1080 @ 29.97 (30) fps with audio to class. You'll also need headphones with a standard 1/8-inch adapter, a USB stick (minimum 32GB), and a portable hard drive (SSD preferred) for transferring larger video files for your assignments.

Note: Registration for this course closes two days before the course start date.

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • set up and operate a camera
  • configure lighting for video
  • design and follow the production process of Pre-production, Production and Post-production
  • operate a video switcher for live, recorded or streamed events
  • edit a video to create a final product with cohesive flow
  • utilize a streaming server.

You’ll demonstrate your skill and knowledge acquisition through coursework and assessments during class time. 100% punctuality, attendance & participation in all classes on campus is required for an optimal learning and job-ready experience.
