INST 139 - Steam & Thermal Measurement
Course Description
This course includes all aspects of metering and instrumentation used in the production of heavy oil by thermal methods. Topics to be covered include operational processes, regulatory expectations and volumetric accounting practices. Knowledge in this area of hydrocarbon measurement will enable you to understand troubleshooting procedures and design processes better. You'll learn about substantial oil characteristics, the measurement equipment used in thermal heavy oil production, its operations and troubleshooting, and the accounting process of thermal heavy oil, which is different from conventional resources. Learn how to apply Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) and Saskatchewan Ministry of the Economy (SaskEcon) regulations in measurement, know how to recommend appropriate metering equipment for various thermal applications and describe methods for collecting field data for a report.
Analyzer Technicians and Systems Engineers, Test & Measurement and Senior Liquid Measurement Supervisors, Measurement Technicians/Technologists, Measurement & Control Technicians, Measurement Analysts and Operators, Instrumentation Technicians, Automation Team Leaders, Measurement Engineers, Reliability Managers, Measurement and Logistics Technicians, Production Accountants, Hydrocarbon Measurement Specialists and their managers, Petroleum Measurement Technical Leaders, Advanced Gas Measurement Technicians working with heavy oil will benefit significantly from this course.
