Course Description

Unlock diverse career paths in data management. A functional understanding of transactional databases opens doors to diverse career opportunities, enabling you to excel in various industries related to data management, analytics and database administration.

This 36-hour virtual instructor-led course thoroughly introduces transactional databases, covering key elements and processes. It explores relational database terminology and design objectives, teaching basic T-SQL queries on Microsoft SQL Server and delving into Azure Cloud Data Solutions. You'll learn to build Azure SQL databases, perform functions in both relational and non-relational databases, and identify common data workloads. Upon completing the course, you'll confidently describe relational database concepts, construct Azure SQL databases, and proficiently manage diverse data tasks within the Azure environment.

Note: Registration for this course closes two days before the course starts.

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you'll be able to:

  • describe the terminology and design objectives of relational databases
  • build Azure SQL database using provided files
  • perform various functions within a relational database in Azure
  • perform various functions within a non-relational database in Azure.

You’ll demonstrate your skill and knowledge acquisition by completing coursework and both during and after class time.

Schedule:  

This course will be delivered virtually using MS Teams or Zoom and Brightspace(D2L). Virtual sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting June 18, 2024 and ending July 25,2024, from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

We encourage you to use your webcam and microphone to contribute to a more collaborative learning experience.
