Course Description

Reducing emissions and addressing climate change is a complex problem that requires a collection of solutions. Canada will need to leverage all pathways to decarbonization.

This course takes a closer look at one potential climate solution – low-carbon hydrogen. Canada is already recognized as a global leader in hydrogen – our expertise in fuel cell technology and innovation is world-class. There is a tremendous opportunity to build on a solid foundation of technical expertise and utilize low-carbon hydrogen to facilitate Canada’s energy transition.

This course is for anyone curious about the promise of hydrogen and looking to develop an informed mindset to further engage in personal and professional discussions about the topic. Through a series of interactive online modules, you’ll expand your knowledge about how low-carbon hydrogen can be safely produced, stored, transported and used to reduce emissions. You’ll also explore the environmental, social and economic benefits of low-carbon hydrogen, including employment opportunities that could be gained by developing Canada’s low-carbon hydrogen economy.

Made possible with contributions from the Department of Natural Resources Canada’s education and awareness project funding – clean transportation and clean fuels, this free 10-hour self-paced massive open online course (MOOC) was developed in collaboration with our SAIT Continuing Education curriculum team and leading industry subject matter experts.

Note: Registration for this course closes two days before the course start date.
